We operate a track based running session for general running fitness of all abilities

Thursdays, Downham Market Sports Federation Club, Memorial Park 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Cost: £1 per session, open for all, members and non-members - book online or bring cash

This is a road running session suitable for improvers. At HQ we have toilets and showers available to use. We run on the roads in and around Downham Market. A hi viz vest is mandatory in winter months. 

Seniors can compete for the club in both a team and as an individual.

As a club we enter teams for leagues, relays and championship events and encourage our members to join in at these. Our team offering for endurance runners is as follows:

Road Running

• Round Norfolk Relay
• Hereward Relay
• Local social relay events
• Regional/National Road Relays (where interest permits)

Cross Country

• Our own Cross Country Grand Prix Series
• Regional/National Cross Country Events (where interest permits)

Track and Field

• Southern Athletics League
• East Anglian League
• Eastern Masters Athletics League

Individual competitive opportunities exist in the form of open races on all surfaces (road, track and cross country) as well as county, regional and national level events. These all require individuals to enter themselves. If you would like to know more about the competitive opportunities or how to get involved in the team events then speak to the road running or cross country reps.

The club has a comprehensive list of Road Running standards, the aim of which is to serve as an incentive for runners to keep improving or to have a target for upcoming races. They range from Copper, through to Diamond. Click here to view the standards.

Badges are awarded to club members that achieve a given standard for 4 distances over a year. These are awarded at the annual awards evening.

As you can imagine keeping track of the running activities of all members is an impossible task and so for those that would like to be awarded we ask that members apply for this Road Running standard by contacting the club road running rep.

What is it?

• A series of pre-selected running events throughout the year
• The more races you complete the more points you accumulate (up to maximum number of races)
• Bonus points on offer for personal bests and volunteering
• Trophies awarded to top 3 males and top 3 females with the most points at the end of the year, to be presented at the Awards Dinner
• This is a friendly competition to promote participation, camaraderie and volunteering
• Open to all paid up senior club members (1st claim only)

Age Graded Competition

An age graded competition runs concurrently using the same races (except XC) and requires a minimum number of completed events to qualify
