This year we will be organising our annual Hancock 5 Mile Handicap & Social on Thursday 18th July. Entry to the event is closed to club members (first or second claim) - or by invitation by members only (non-members are ineligible to win the Handicap trophy).
Where: Downham Market Sports Federation Club - Memorial Park Playing Fields, Lynn Road, Downham Market
When: Thursday 18th July 2024, runs start from 6:30pm.
Minimum age for the run: 15
For those that haven't taken part in this event before, participants are given a predicted time based on previous/recent performances along with your own (honest) prediction. On the night runners are started at staggered intervals and simply the first to cross the line is the winner. Following the run, a Fish & Chip supper is served alongside presentation of prizes.
To take part this year, follow these simple instructions:
Step 1 - Enter (click here) and give an estimate of your 5 mile time. This time will be used alongside existing recent evidence to work out the official estimate. Please be as honest as you can. Entries close at midnight on Wednesday 17th July.
Step 2 - Decide if you want to stay for the Fish & Chip supper / social - and if so order via your membership page on the membermojo portal www.membermojo.co.uk/rystonrunners (Login, click on"Your Membership", click on "Visit Store", complete order. Last date for Food orders is Sunday 14th July. Cod & Chips £10.50, 2 Jumbo Sausages & Chips £8.00, Chips only £3.50 - non members will need a member to login and order / pay on their behalf!
Step 3 - Turn up on the night! For the event we could do with some marshalls so if you can't / dont want to run, or know someone that can help then please contact Jane Ashby.
This year our weekly Thursday session will run a recce of the route on 4th July (7pm) - come along and get familiar with the route before the event.
