Weekend Round Up 17-Feb-20

Another stormy weekend played havoc with the racing plans of most of Ryston Runners AC’s road runners, who were planning to take part in the club’s annual “March Hare 15” social run challenge, but which was called off to save the non-running volunteers from an uncomfortable morning  marshalling and recording.

One event that did take place was the Valentine 10K at Easton, where Jane Ashby was the only finisher for the club. The weather was much better than expected, as the torrential rain left off for the duration of race and high hedges shielded the competitors from the worst of the wind. After a mix-up with the results, as her timing chip failed to record, Jane eventually left the event with a nice wooden trophy for winning the W70 category.

Unaffected by Storm Dennis, due to distance, Cath Duhig took part in the Spanish Masters 20K at Torrevieja and won the W65 category in a recent best time of 2:08:50, representing a 90+% age grading, which was a pleasant outcome after a week in which she suffere3ned a tendon strain and was uncertain if she would even make the start line, let alone finish.
